Marjolein Cleaver
Occupational Therapist
I am passionate about seeing young people empowered to know who they are and make their own choices to become grounded adults. Teenage years can be a difficult time to navigate, for parents and young people alike, and sometimes some short term support can make all the difference. As an occupational therapist I use creativity and practical strategies alongside plenty of listening and a solution focused approach to support my clients.
I especially work with neurodiverse young people to help them understand how their brains work and how to play to their strengths. We work together to find coping strategies for the things that are more difficult. I also work with young people who experience anxiety, low mood or who struggle with their friendships or big life changes.
I am available to deliver workshops and training on neurodiversity and have delivered training on this to school staff, charities and workplaces. Having a neuro-affirmative approach does not need to be daunting or difficult and can make the world of difference to neurodiverse and neurotypical people alike. I am passionate about sharing practical tools that can support neurodiverse people in a variety of settings or to support with reasonable adjustments at work.
I also offer supervision to OTs looking to start in independent practise, neurodiverse OTs or people working in a mental health support role and caring professions. Contact me to chat about your support needs and if I am the right fit for you.
When I am not working I love spending time with my family or working in the garden. I have a crazy staffie who loves nothing better than running after her ball in the garden and occasionally snores loudly in my online sessions. I love being outdoors or exploring new places, apart from when it’s raining. Then you’ll find me in a cosy corner with a good book.
