Clients are advised to book an initial 30-minute consultation where their needs and wishes will be discussed as well as the aims of solution focused occupational therapy. There is no obligation to book further therapy sessions following the initial consultation.
Following the initial consultation, therapy sessions are usually 50 minutes in duration. They begin with a more structured first session where the client will have the opportunity to identify their hopes and motivation for undertaking the therapy, how they would like their future to be and identify some tasks to be achieved between sessions. Kate always offers compassionate, non-judgmental and empathetic support to make progress towards a more positive life and a healthier mind.
Follow up sessions will explore any progress between sessions, a person’s strengths and qualities, as well as identifying coping strategies when times are more challenging. Goals or tasks can be set and written feedback from each session can be provided (this is encouraged as it can be a great tool to use and maintain motivation when difficulties arise between sessions). As sessions progress, Kate may introduce tools to use such as developing a solution focused diary, developing mindfulness practice, introducing relaxation techniques, breathing techniques, positive thinking strategies and many other tools, depending upon the needs and wishes of each individual.
How do I book an introductory therapy session?
Contact Kate directly either by phone, email or message via the website. You are very welcome to have an informal discussion about your needs and what Wellbeing Therapy Solutions
can offer prior to booking.
How many sessions will I need?
This is very much led by the person who is undertaking the therapy, who will choose if they wish to continue at the end of each session. There is no commitment required to a set number of sessions or how often they take place. Weekly sessions are recommended initially, but some people find they benefit from a less regular approach to therapy.
Confidentiality
A confidentiality agreement will need to be signed by both the client and the therapist at the beginning of therapy. This lays out the boundaries of professional confidentiality and the responsibilities of the therapist and client.
What if I need to cancel a session?
Sessions cancelled with 24 hours notice will not be charged for. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged for at the full rate.
